Pig Unit Technical Science OfficerFuture FarmAs a key part of the Future Farm, the Pig Technical Science Officer will contribute to high standards of care for the pig unit, including hygiene, fertility, production, nutrition, and general animal husbandry. We are looking for motivated team members, with a willingness to develop new skills.Previous experience of working with livestock is a requirement for the role, though training will be provided. The successful candidate will have:
- An ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
- An ability to take responsibility for allocated tasks and make sound decisions
- An ability to learn new skills and motivation to work in a role that involves working with animals’ commitment to ensure the highest standards of livestock health and welfare
- Attention to detail and accurate record keeping exceptionally high standards of housekeeping and hygiene The routine working week is 37 hours over Monday to Sunday, inclusive. A rota for out-of-hours work for the livestock sector Technicians is required to cover animal feeding, welfare checks and milking. This will be paid at either time of in lieu or time plus one half.Accommodation is possibly available, OR local candidates must be able to commute to the campus at TF10.
