As Head of English Language Support, you will provide strategic leadership for all English language support activities across the University. Leading a team of specialist staff, you will oversee the design, development and delivery of English language programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the English Language Support Team, including staffing, recruitment, performance and budget management.
- Support UKVI compliance processes associated with the University's sponsor licence responsibilities.
- Assess the language abilities of prospective international students and Visiting Researchers, advising academic colleagues on suitability for admission.
- Promote inclusive practices and support academic colleagues in developing effective approaches to teaching, assessment and student engagement.
- Create and develop online learning resources through Moodle and SharePoint platforms.
- Work closely with Student Services and academic colleagues to design and deliver induction and transition support for international students.
- Monitor student progress and provide targeted interventions where additional language support is required.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the University to enhance international student wellbeing, integration and academic achievement.
- Lead the professional development and training of the English Language Support Team.
- Contribute to the delivery of the University's International Plan and support overseas partnerships and international projects.
You will be a confident and collaborative leader possessing either a first or higher degree/post-graduation qualification along with substantial experience in teaching English for academic purposes and working with international students within a higher education setting.
Β£39,906 to Β£44,746 pro rata, per annum (The point of entry will be dependent upon relevant qualifications and experience)
