We are seeking to appoint a new Development Trust Officer. Reporting to the Director of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR), in a successful, collaborative and expanding team, the Development Trust Officer will be a self-starter, experienced in providing high-quality admin and event management/project support.

The Harper Adams University Development Trust (DT) is a separate charity with two current fundraising objectives:

  • To raise funds for the completion of a funding package for the construction of new buildings on the University campus.
  • To raise funds to create a long-term source of finance to provide scholarships for future students of the University.

The Trust currently administers scholarships to the value of £600,000 per annum.

Some of the main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the DDAR with the delivery of the Development Trust Scholarship programme.
  • Taking a lead in event management, i.e., of the annual Scholarship Fair and Scholarship Presentation.
  • Developing and maintaining up-to-date and accurate records relating to scholarships.
  • Managing and responding to enquiries, including responding to emails and letters.
  • Advising students and staff about opportunities to apply for scholarships and ensuring current and potential sponsors are provided with information about the Development Trust and the Scholarship Programme.
  • Independently drafting agendas, agenda papers, and reports to a high standard of presentation.
  • Close and regular liaison with the University’s Finance Department to ensure accurate and timely invoicing of sponsors and accurate and timely payment of scholarship awards to students.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to plan and manage own workload and to work as part of a team.

The appointee will be expected to work with senior figures within and outside the University and must be able to do this professionally and discreetly.

This is an exciting time to join the Team, as the University, in partnership with the Development Trust, is in the planning stages of a new major philanthropic campaign, ’20 by 30 Together We Will Make The Difference’ to generate a co-contribution of £20m towards the fulfilment of the 2030 strategic goals.

Please note that interviews will take place on Wednesday 26 February 2025.
