Clinical Teaching Fellow in Veterinary SciencesHarper & Keele Veterinary School0.2-0.8 FTE permanent, based at Keele or Harper Adams University CampusPermanent and temporary (12-month fixed term maternity leave cover) available The Clinical Teaching Fellows are a key part of the programme team, delivering the case-based learning which is integrated throughout the foundation and transition phases of the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVetMS) programme. Working closely with other academic staff, appointees will contribute to the educational design and development of teaching materials and facilitate tutorials to small groups of students in a variety of subject areas including the foundation sciences, animal management and health sciences, professionalism, communication skills and academic practice, veterinary pathology and in the student’s preparation for clinical practice. Using their background and experience in the profession, clinical teaching fellows provide contextualisation of the foundation sciences, and support students as they explore the relevance and application of their studies. The role does not require specialist clinical or species knowledge, however, flexibility to be able to deliver tutorials across different disciplines, species and contexts is essential. Clinical Teaching Fellows also have a key role in supporting student professional development within the course, working closely with student academic mentors and central student support services to provide a multi-faceted system of student personal development.Appointments will typically be fractional permanent contracts (0.2 to 0.6 FTEs) which can be tailored to accommodate a variety of flexible working patterns (including university term-time only or school term-time only contracts) as appropriate. There will be the need to commit to regular term-time tutorial sessions to fit with timetabling and to ensure continuity of learning for the students. The successful candidate must be a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) (or be eligible for RCVS registration without the requirement to sit the statutory membership examination). Both Harper Adams University and Keele University are committed to operating flexible working practices wherever possible.
