Product & Proposition Manager, Mortgages in Harpenden

Purpose: Responsible for defining and delivering the Society’s mortgage product strategy, managing the full lifecycle of residential and Buy to Let products to ensure they meet member needs, remain competitive, and comply with regulatory requirements. The role involves collaborating across the business to develop and enhance mortgage propositions aligned with the Society’s objectives and Consumer Duty principles, while providing expert insight into market trends, customer needs, and regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities:

·        You will be responsible for defining mortgage product strategy, managing the product lifecycle and working with cross functional teams to launch and improve mortgage products

·        New product development should be in line with the Society’s overall business objectives, risk appetite and mutual ethos

·        You will oversee the product from conception to launch and beyond, including gathering customer feedback and analysing trends

·        You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our residential and Buy to Let mortgage products and proposition, ensuring they meet the needs of our members, remain competitive and deliver commercial targets, while adhering to regulatory requirements

·        Ensure all mortgage propositions align with the principles of the FCA’s Consumer Duty, delivering good outcomes for members

·        You will work proactively with the Commercial Director to prepare governance papers, approval papers and MI packs

·        Staying informed about mortgage market conditions, competitor offerings and customer needs to identify opportunities for new mortgage products

·        Contribute to regulatory change projects, ensuring the mortgage portfolio remains compliant

·        There is an expectation for you to act as the subject matter expert for mortgages and build key relationships across the business, namely, Operations & Underwriting, Compliance, Finance, Credit Risk, IT, Marketing, Intermediaries and our Executive team 

Knowledge, skill and qualification requirements:

·        Experience in the Financial Services sector is essential

·        Proven experience in a Product Management or Proposition Management role within the UK mortgage industry is essential

·        Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, market trends and financial performance metrics

·        Experience within a Building Society or Mutual organisation is highly desirable

·        Excellent understanding of the end-to-end mortgage lifecycle and current regulatory landscape (e.g., Consumer Duty, MCOB).

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Comprehensive understanding of the Microsoft suite of IT software (Excel, PowerPoint, etc)

·        This is a full-time role working on a hybrid basis with the expectation of attending the Harpenden office twice weekly
