Harp-E is redefining what the harp can be. It is the first portable, accessibly-priced electric harp with stage-quality sound. Based in the creative heart of East London, Harp-E is on a mission to bring string instruments into the 21st century. Having established a global presence, we are now pushing the boundaries of musical innovation to create instruments that are portable, contemporary, and built for the next generation of performers.
This is an opportunity to be a core part of a team at the cutting edge of musical innovation. You will be a vital support engine for our London studio, bridging instrument craftsmanship and operational excellence. As Harp Builder and Operations Assistant, you will be a "steady doer" and an adaptive learner, responsible for the physical creation of our instruments while supporting the systems that keep us moving globally. You will work alongside our highly skilled team, ensuring that every Harp-E leaving our studio meets our standards for quality and innovation.
This is a freelance-to-permanent role (flexible, around 3+ days per week) based in Dalston, London. Compensation: day rate £140-170, depending on experience.
YOU
- Are smart and handy: You are a fast, adaptive learner who is naturally organised and possesses the manual dexterity required for fine instrument building.
- Love music: You have a deep love for musical instruments. Ideally, you play a string instrument (extra points for harpists!) and understand the technical and emotional appeal of a 21st-century harp.
- Are a master of craft: You have an affinity for wood and coatings, and you are excited by the process of sanding, stringing, tuning, and finessing instruments to perfection.
- Like things organised: You can quickly pick up the skills needed for international shipping, production schedules, and studio management, keeping both physical and digital workflows tidy.
- Are a team player: You have the ability to work with and support a small, flexible crew, helping to maintain a positive and efficient studio environment.
- Have a "scale-up" mindset: You thrive in the dynamic environment of a growing global business and remain cool-headed as we build the next phase of our operations.
