A leading global professional services firm is expanding its Data Governance function and investing in its data management capabilities. Operating across multiple regions and business lines, the firm relies on trusted, high-quality data to support operational decisions and leadership insights. You will be joining a central data team with strong senior sponsorship and a clear mandate to improve data governance across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Liaising with Data Stewards to understand their data requirements and chairing Data Stewardship Council meetings
- Leading metadata import and curation within the firm's Data Management Technology (DMT)
- Designing and building data catalogue content, metadata models, and workflows
- Developing and maintaining business process and lineage areas within the DMT
- Analysing business processes to identify improvements in data management and analytics
- Supporting the Data Governance Framework through user stories, use cases, and functional requirements while tracking the issues backlog
- Conducting gap analysis to identify limitations in existing data management systems
- Participating in user acceptance testing to ensure DMT meets business needs
- Creating comprehensive documentation including data definitions, source information, transformation rules, and usage guidelines
- Ensuring Data Governance key assets (Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, Reference Data List, Lineage, and Business Process Maps) are up to date and used effectively
- Delivering DMT and Data Steward training and keeping materials current
- Supporting a central reference list repository and adopting external or industry data standards
- Defining and managing data domains to ensure consistency, integrity, and alignment with business objectives
- Implementing and monitoring data quality standards
- Contributing to firm-wide data strategy initiatives that empower Data Stewards and improve governance practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Data Governance specifically
- Experience working in Law, Professional Services or Consulting a must have
- Knowledge of data management, data governance, and analytics best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to bridge business and technology
- Proactive self-starter capable of working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience producing business documentation, including user stories, use cases, and functional requirements
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies
- Knowledge of metadata management concepts, modelling, tools, and standards is beneficial
