The Role
- Build and evaluate machine learning models that predict and interpret human attention, gaze and interaction within visual and spatial environments
- Design and run independent experiments across computer vision, temporal modelling and multimodal data
- Apply research from cognitive science and perception to practical AI systems
- Develop prototypes in Python and PyTorch, with light engineering where needed
- Contribute ideas proactively and collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team
- Work on technology aligned with emerging safety and human monitoring requirements across transport and adjacent domains
Your Skills and Experience
- PhD or equivalent research experience in areas such as computational vision, visual attention, gaze estimation, cognitive neuroscience, HCI or perception with a machine learning component
- Strong research output through publications, patents or substantial open source contributions, ideally within computer vision or human centred AI
- Hands on experience with deep learning using Python and PyTorch
- Ability to design, execute and interpret experiments independently
- Experience or strong interest in areas such as eye tracking, saliency, egocentric video, EEG with vision, embodied AI or human behaviour modelling
- Clear communication skills and comfort working in a small, collaborative environment
