THE COMPANY
A large, well-established organisation with a strong strategic focus on data and AI. While the business is sizeable, the data function itself is relatively lean, offering the successful Data Manager / Data Projects Lead the opportunity to have real ownership, visibility, and impact across multiple workstreams.
THE ROLE
As a Data Manager / Data Projects Lead, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and coordinate four key organisation-wide data projects
- Spend 50% of the time on data literacy initiatives and 50% on wider data projects
- Own and drive the organisation's data literacy agenda, improving data confidence and capability
- Assess project demand and understand current vs. target-state delivery
- Audit priorities across existing data infrastructure and strategy
- Support prioritisation and alignment across multiple data workstreams
- Work closely with senior stakeholders
- Act as a coordinating lead for data activities (without direct line management)
- Gather requirements and ensure alignment with the data team
- Roll up sleeves to create materials, presentations, and supporting content
- Translate data problems into clear, engaging outputs (including AI-supported presentations where relevant)
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience leading or coordinating data literacy, data enablement, or data change initiatives
- Strong grounding in data governance, analytics, visualisation, and storytelling
- Experience working in large organisations with small data teams (or consultancy backgrounds)
- Ability to assess project demand, define priorities, and align teams to delivery plans
- Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly with HR, data, and senior business leaders
- Experience working with tools such as Excel and Power BI
- Confident operating in a supervisory / coordinating role across multiple workstreams
- Comfortable creating content and materials, not just directing others
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset
