A leading UK insurance business is looking to grow its Pricing Data Science team. With over 1.4 million customers and a well-established analytics function, the business is investing heavily in modernising pricing through advanced machine learning and statistical modelling. The team combines traditional pricing expertise with Data Science methodologies to tackle complex commercial challenges. Role Summary

As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll join the Pricing team and work on high-impact modelling initiatives across risk assessment, technical pricing and premium optimisation. You'll take ownership of projects from problem definition through model development and implementation while helping mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy machine learning and statistical models to improve pricing decisions
  • Own projects end-to-end from business problem identification through to production handoff
  • Analyse large datasets using Python, SQL and modern data platforms
  • Develop solutions using XGBoost, LightGBM and predictive modelling techniques
  • Test new data sources and evaluate opportunities to improve pricing performance
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to solve commercial challenges
  • Support and mentor graduate and junior Data Scientists

Key Details

  • Salary Range: Up to £52,000 + 6.5% bonus
  • Working Model: Primarily remote. Quarterly collaboration days in Haywards Heath or Manchester
  • Tech Stack: Python, SQL, Databricks, PySpark, XGBoost, LightGBM, Statistical Modelling
