Job Description
Head of Data
London
Fixed-Term Contract (minimum 6 months)
Up to £110,000 (pro rata'd)
This is a senior interim leadership role joining a growing data function in a Green Tech business pivotal point in its maturity. Strong foundations are in place across AWS, Snowflake, dbt and Power BI; the focus now is on turning that platform into tangible insight and business impact.
The Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of three (Engineers/Analysts)
- Own and manage the data and analytics roadmap, setting realistic expectations around delivery
- Shift the function from automated reporting to high-quality insight and decision support
- Embed clear intake, prioritisation and ways-of-working processes for data requests
- Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver KPI dashboards, executive reporting and ad-hoc analysis
- Improve data literacy across the business and manage reactive requests effectively
- Support machine learning initiatives, including in-housing and adoption of an existing demand prediction model
- Work alongside engineering leadership to guide the ongoing evolution of the data platform
- Champion data quality, governance and a single source of truth
Skills & Experience:
- Senior analytics or data leadership experience in a modern data environment
- Strong commercial acumen and confidence influencing senior stakeholders
- Proven experience leading and developing analytics teams
- Solid understanding of analytics, data storytelling and insight delivery
- Hands-on background with Power BI, SQL, and ideally Python
- Familiarity with AWS, Snowflake and dbt
- Experience owning data or analytics roadmaps and managing expectations
- Exposure to machine learning initiatives is a plus
- Able to step into an interim role quickly and operate autonomously
