As a Data Governance Analyst, you’ll drive strategic improvements in data literacy, governance frameworks, and compliance—ensuring the firm’s data is a trusted asset for decision‑making.

THE ROLE

As a Data Governance Analyst, you will understand what data stewards are using, manage and update the business’s data catalogue, spot missing data and improve how processes can be worked upon, and support business strategy on how to improve data quality. This is a role for someone who wants to help a global law firm get its data under control—making it clearer, cleaner, and more useful for everyone who relies on it. You will be involved in overseeing Data360 and Power BI to develop governance frameworks, improve data quality, and create strategic reports.

  • Assist with day‑to‑day governance activities while building broader exposure to the framework and tooling.

  • Implement and oversee the cross‑functional Data Governance Framework.
  • Work closely with Data Stewards to deeply understand data domains, ownership, and business needs.
  • Own and manage the data governance issues log, including prioritising issues, driving resolution, and ensuring outcomes are documented.
  • Lead metadata ingestion and curation within the data management tool.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities across data governance processes.
  • Ensure data literacy standards are maintained and improved across teams.
  • Work cross‑functionally to:
  • Identify where data is used.
  • Understand who is using it and for what purpose.
  • Ensure data usage and processes are correctly logged and governed.
  • Configure and optimise the data management/catalogue tool to help stakeholders better understand and trust the data.
  • Manage upwards, responding to senior stakeholder queries and providing clear updates and recommendations.

    • Experience in data governance, with a background in legal, professional services, consulting, or regulated industries.
    • Proven ability to manage stakeholders, develop governance strategies, and mentor team members.
