Data Manager
📍 London or Dorset – 2 days per week in either office, flexible
💰 Up to £70,000 + pension + profit-related bonus
A well-known UK fashion retailer is hiring a Data Manager to lead their data service function. This role will own service management for their enterprise data platform, ensuring stability, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement while mentoring a team of analysts and engineers.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and develop a team of 6–7 (BI Analysts, Data Analysts, Engineers)
- Own SLAs, incident/problem/change management, and continuous service improvement
- Lead platform operations: upgrades, patching, compliance, and service continuity
- Drive FinOps processes — monitor and optimise cloud/platform spend
- Collaborate with engineering leads on deployment pipelines and platform automation
- Shape the future of the platform as it grows in scale and complexity
- Act as a key business-facing leader, engaging stakeholders across functions
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong SQL, Power BI, Azure experience
- Knowledge of Databricks (essential)
- Business Objects (desirable)
- Experience managing SLAs, suppliers, and FinOps processes
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Stakeholder management and business engagement experience
- Background in enterprise–level data environments (5+ years)
- Familiarity with ITIL/service frameworks preferred
- Passion for data and continuous improvement
