The Role
You will provide executive-level scientific leadership while overseeing a multidisciplinary research organisation. Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and delivering a multi-year scientific strategy aligned with organisational goals
- Leading and developing senior research leaders across AI, scientific research, and research infrastructure functions
- Ensuring scientific excellence, rigour, reproducibility, and high research standards across all programmes
- Driving collaboration between AI researchers and domain experts to maximise research impact
- Shaping organisational structure, workforce planning, and recruitment strategy for research teams
- Serving as a trusted member of the executive leadership team and contributing to broader business strategy
- Managing research budgets and resource allocation to ensure effective delivery against priorities
Your Skills & Experience
- PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computational Biology, or a related quantitative discipline
- Deep expertise in AI research, large-scale machine learning implementation, or a combination of both
- Proven experience leading high-performing research or AI organisations
- Strong understanding of foundation models, large-scale training infrastructure, and modern AI systems
- Ability to evaluate research quality and guide technical strategy across multiple research domains
- Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Experience working across academic and commercial research environments is highly desirable
- Exposure to scientific research applications, bioacoustics, computer vision, speech, audio, natural sciences, or related fields would be advantageous
