A large, purpose-driven organisation operating within the social care and healthcare landscape is hiring a Power BI Developer to support the continued growth of its Business Intelligence capability. The organisation delivers long-term, community-based services to individuals with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and complex behavioural or clinical requirements, working closely with local authorities and healthcare providers. Services are delivered at scale through residential settings, supported living and specialist support programmes.
BI is a relatively new function within the organisation, creating a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and shaping how BI is delivered across a complex business.
This is an end-to-end BI Developer role, responsible for delivering Business Intelligence solutions across multiple business areas, including Operations, Finance, Marketing and Sales. You'll sit within a small but growing BI team and report into the BI leadership function, working closely with stakeholders to define KPIs, model data and create scalable, self-service reporting solutions. The role is roughly 60% technical / 40% stakeholder-focused, combining hands-on Power BI development with strong business engagement.
What you’ll be doing:
- Power BI & reporting delivery: Build, enhance and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and semantic models; Apply best practice across layout, accessibility, UX and data storytelling; Develop robust DAX measures and business-aligned KPIs.
- Data modelling & semantic layer: Design and maintain scalable, reliable data models that support self-service analytics; Ensure consistent definitions and trusted reporting across business areas.
- Data preparation & data quality: Support ETL / ELT processes to ensure timely, accurate and well-structured data; Contribute to ongoing data quality improvement and optimisation.
- Stakeholder engagement & insight: Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into BI solutions; Define and track KPIs across multiple domains; Analyse datasets, identify trends and communicate insights clearly; Promote data literacy and support a more insight-driven culture.
What you bring:
- Essential: 2+ years' experience in a BI Developer or similar role; Strong experience with Power BI; Strong SQL; Strong DAX capability; Experience with data transformations; STEM degree background.
- Nice to have: Python; Experience with the Microsoft Fabric / Azure ecosystem; Exposure to ETL pipelines or modern data platforms.
Why this role:
- Work within a high-impact, purpose-led organisation.
- Join a small BI team with real ownership and influence.
- Opportunity to build end-to-end BI solutions rather than maintaining legacy reporting.
- Meaningful work where insights directly support better outcomes for people.
- Up to £50,000.
- Hybrid - 1 day per week onsite in the West Midlands (flexibility for an exceptional candidate).
