A global online marketplace is hiring a Senior Commercial Analyst to join their newly formed Trading Analytics function. Reporting into the Lead for Trade Analytics and sitting within a wider team of 10, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, data-rich environment and enjoys solving commercial problems in close collaboration with stakeholders.
The company facilitates tens of thousands of transactions daily across a complex network of customers, partners, and delivery operations. This team plays a central role in understanding commercial performance, identifying root causes of trading issues, and shaping strategic decisions across the business.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading deep-dive, exploratory analysis using SQL and Looker to understand trends and performance issues
- Identifying and explaining trading anomalies (e.g. unexpected sales dips) and recommending actions
- Working closely with commercial and trading stakeholders to evaluate performance and guide decisions on pricing, marketing, and investment
- Creating dashboards and reporting frameworks for different stakeholder groups
- Managing shifting priorities and responding quickly to business-critical questions
- Supporting a new function with high visibility and real commercial impact
What we're looking for:
- Strong SQL skills (4-5+ years) and experience working with large-scale datasets
- Experience with Looker or another visualisation tool
- Proven commercial analytics background - confident analysing sales, ROI, and trading data
- Excellent stakeholder management - able to win buy-in and influence senior decision-makers
- A curious, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable operating in high-volume, complex organisations (e.g. marketplace, eCommerce or similar)
Interview Process:
- Technical Screening - 2 SQL tasks + 1 logic-based exercise (via Kaggle)
- Take-Home Case Study - 4-5 days to complete, followed by a 1.5 hour in-person interview, including:
- 20-minute presentation
