A leading organisation is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join its Data Platform team, working across a major programme focused on role-based access control (RBAC), data security and governance within GCP. You'll work closely with architects, engineers, product and governance teams to design and implement secure, scalable data solutions, while helping shape technical standards across the wider data platform.
THE ROLE
- Designing and implementing RBAC and data security solutions across GCP
- Developing and improving access controls across BigQuery and cloud data environments
- Supporting IAM/IDAM enhancements, service-account access and access reporting
- Designing and implementing data classification and governance-by-design
- Maintaining and improving a GCP/BigQuery lakehouse environment
- Building and supporting pipelines using Python, Airflow/Cloud Composer and dbt
- Identifying security vulnerabilities and supporting remediation
- Implementing robust CI/CD, testing and Terraform-based infrastructure
- Working across integrations including Fivetran, Tableau and Alation
The key deliverables include access enhancement, data-classification architecture, BigQuery/Tableau integration and vulnerability remediation.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong commercial experience with GCP and BigQuery
- Deep knowledge of RBAC / IAM within cloud data environments
- Strong understanding of data security, governance and access controls
- Hands-on experience with Python, Airflow and dbt
- Experience with Terraform and CI/CD
- Knowledge of Kubernetes
- Exposure to AWS alongside GCP
- Strong stakeholder management and the ability to work with architects, analytics engineers and software engineers
