We are seeking qualified commercial litigators to join our team in the beautiful British Virgin Islands.

What you’ll be doing

Our dispute resolution group has been involved in the most significant global offshore disputes and complex cross-border restructurings and insolvencies of recent times, winning keynote victories for our clients and often helping shape the law.

As a key part of the team you will work on a range of commercial litigation and insolvency matters. These will include very high-value, complex disputes from urgent interim relief applications to trial, including shareholder disputes, injunctions and commercial trials.

Responsibilities

Provide tailored legal advice and action accordingly through:

  • Effective note taking and recording of clear instructions
  • An ability to produce first‑class legal opinions on complex areas of law and fact patterns
  • Provide concise letters and reports for clients, written in plain language
  • Draft concise documents in plain language
  • Interview and advise clients, helping them decide the best course of action
  • An ability to produce confident written and oral advocacy in a time sensitive environment

Business generation:

  • Contribute to appropriate business development activities of the team and the firm
  • Wherever the opportunity arises, promote the services of teams from across the firm to the client for whom you are acting
  • Actively participate in thought leadership
  • Introduce new clients to the firm
  • Achieve agreed business development targets (if any)
  • Identify and attend appropriate networking opportunities

Qualifications and experience

  • Barrister or qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years post‑qualified experience
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience with Commercial Litigation
  • Understand and relate instructions in relation to corporate and commercial issues
  • Develop strong client relationships
  • Communicate concisely both verbally and in writing with colleagues and clients
  • Draft documents that are clear and concise
  • Conduct negotiations where appropriate
  • A willingness to be actively engaged in business development
  • Ability to manage a team and workloads effectively and calmly
  • Use initiative to manage problems without heavy reliance on a Partner, driving the tempo of a case
  • Develop strategic planning skills and consultative relationship with clients
  • Balance the act of serving the client and the firm
  • Develop substantial professional network and understanding of how different clients industries can assist the firm
