Join to apply for the Staff Product Designer, UI focused role at Harness. Harness is building the industry's leading AI-powered software delivery platform, enabling teams worldwide to build, test, and deliver software faster, safer, and more reliably.
At Harness, design quality and innovation matters. We’re looking for a UI-focused Product Designer who sets a high bar for visual excellence, polish, and consistency across complex product surfaces. This role is for designers who care deeply about craft — designers who sweat the details, elevate interaction quality, and turn sophisticated technical workflows into clear, confident, and beautiful product experiences.
You’ll help define the future of Harness' developer-facing products by shaping how our platform looks, feels, and behaves at scale. You are opinionated, design-driven, and skilled at transforming complexity into clarity. You’ve shipped enterprise software before, understand the rigor required for large systems, and know how to maintain visual quality across multiple releases.
While this role partners closely with UX, Product, and Engineering, the center of gravity is UI design: layout, hierarchy, interaction patterns, design systems, motion, and the overall level of polish that signals trust to enterprise customers.
About The Role- UI & UX Excellence
- Own the presentation layer and interaction quality of major product areas, ensuring a high bar for polish, consistency, and usability.
- Design refined, scalable UI patterns for complex workflows in CI/CD, cloud, and developer tooling environments.
- Push visual clarity and cohesion across the platform through strong layout, typography, spacing, color, and interaction design.
- Partner closely with Design Systems to evolve components, patterns, and tokens that raise the quality bar across Harness.
- Product Design & Collaboration
- Drive design work from concept through execution, collaborating with Product Management and Engineering to ship high-quality experiences.
- Translate product requirements and technical constraints into intuitive, elegant interfaces.
- Serve as a design partner to engineering teams during implementation, ensuring fidelity and quality in shipped UI.
- Provide thoughtful critique and raise the visual design bar across the broader design team.
- Customer Impact & Iteration
- Ground UI and interaction decisions in customer needs, usability feedback, and real-world product usage.
- Evaluate existing experiences and proactively identify opportunities to improve clarity, efficiency, and aesthetic quality.
- Own outcomes post-launch by measuring impact, gathering feedback, and continuously refining visual and interaction details.
- 5+ years of hands-on product design experience, including meaningful experience designing enterprise or developer-facing software.
- A portfolio that clearly demonstrates exceptional strong UI & interaction craft with high polish — not just flows and wireframes.
- Strong expertise in visual hierarchy, layout, typography, and interaction design.
- Designing complex systems that scale across features and teams.
- Experience working with or contributing to design systems and maintaining consistency across large products.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms or developer tools (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, CI/CD, DevOps tooling).
- Highly opinionated about quality — with the judgment to balance speed and craft in a fast-moving environment.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and evolving requirements while maintaining a clear visual vision.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence without authority.
- Deep commitment to exquisite craftsmanship and pride in the details.
- Brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and positive energy to the team.
