Following the release of ARRS GP information and funding, we are looking for an enthusiastic forward-thinking GP to join Harness North PCN on a fixed-term salaried contract, preferably with an immediate start date. The post holder will demonstrate courageous and critical thinking and is a caring, compassionate and committed general practitioner who, acting within their professional boundaries, will deliver high-quality medical care and services to the practice population, managing a clinical caseload and dealing with a diverse range of health needs. This will include, but is not limited to, surgery and telephone consultations, home visits, administration, complying with the practices contracts (APMS/GMS/PMS/enhanced services). The post holder will commit to demonstrating critical thinking in the safe clinical decision-making process. They will communicate and work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients. The post holder will be working at Church Lane Surgery located at 282 Church Lane, Kingsbury, NW9 8LU who serve a patient population of approximately 8,900.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertakes all duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, including a full range of medical services as defined in the core APMS/PMS/GMS contract and additional and enhanced services where appropriate in line with the GMC Good Medical Practice Standards.
  • Patient facing work aligned to improving quality of care with agreed autonomy regarding details of sessions.
  • Contributing to continuity of care and risk management of patients.
  • On occasion may need to provide home visits.
  • Oversee and participate in chronic disease management, which the post holder may lead, for defined conditions and/or patients.
  • Work as part of the team to ensure all targets and performance indicators are met.
  • Participate in specified clinical meetings.
  • Participate in, and on occasion lead, clinical audit, and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in achieving contractual and population health targets, including QOF, IIF, and enhanced services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Comply with the GMC Code of Conduct.
  • To provide high-quality clinical care to patients through face-to-face, online and telephone consultations.
  • Make timely, clear, computer-based records of consultations and contact with patients.
  • Maintain administrative records relating to the practice contract, enhanced services and QOF.
  • Contribute to providing a supportive environment for other staff through informal catchups and contact.
  • Attend and contribute to in-house meetings, including clinical, educational/training-related and administrative meetings.
  • Attend meetings and events held by external agencies and stakeholders.
  • Liaison with clinical pharmacists and other attached ARRS staff.
  • Practise evidence-based medicine, in line with national and locally agreed guidelines.
  • Prescribe in line with local and national guidelines.
  • Work with the GP Clinical Supervisor and Practice Manager to drive innovation and clinical development.
  • Act as a mentor and positive role model to other members of staff, sharing information and good practice.
  • Prioritise own workload and collaborate effectively with others to prioritise team and practice workload.
  • Keep a portfolio and potentially develop a special interest.
  • Undertake training as required to ensure competencies for delivering all responsibilities, to meet personal, statutory and practice education and learning needs, including keeping records of learning, complaints and feedback.
  • Keep up to date with current evidence-based approaches to patient care and service delivery, in line with NICE and the National Service Framework.
  • Undertake and contribute to education activities, such as reviewing significant events, clinical audit etc.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and licence to practice.
  • Membership of appropriate Medical Organisation (MDU, MPS, etc).
  • Inclusion in NHS England / NW London Performers List of Medical Practitioners.
  • Annual appraisal updates.

Experience

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment.
  • Experience of dealing with a range of clinical conditions.
  • Experience of continued professional development.
  • Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Evidence of working autonomously, with some support and supervision.
  • Must not have been substantively employed as a General Medical Practitioner in a Core Network Practice of the PCN at any point in the previous 12 months.
