About the Role
As Senior Fire Engineer, you will support the Principal Fire Engineer while taking ownership of fire engineering deliverables across complex and varied client portfolios. You will apply expert knowledge of fire safety legislation, Scottish regulatory frameworks and UK-wide standards, ensuring Harmony produces technical outputs of the highest standard. You will work across fire strategy development, RIBA-stage projects, and contribute to external wall and FRAEW assessments. The role is ideal for an engineer ready to step into a more senior, influential position within a new and rapidly scaling consultancy environment, with opportunities to mentor others as the team grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and contribute to fire engineering strategies and fire risk management plans
- Apply knowledge of the Fire Safety (Scotland) Act 2005 and Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006
- Support the Single Building Assessment (SBA) process
- Contribute to FRAEW assessments under PAS9980 (preferred)
- Produce high-quality technical reports aligned to British Standards, ADB and CP3
- Use digital platforms such as Bluebeam, RISKBASE and RISKFLAG for accurate site evidence capture
- Support client communication and represent Harmony in technical discussions
- Work independently and collaboratively within a small, high-performing consultancy team
- Assist in shaping internal processes and technical standards within the new consultancy unit
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fire engineering
- Degree in Fire Engineering or Level 6 fire-related qualification
- Professional membership at Member level (MiFireE or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of fire safety legislation, Building Safety Act 2022 and secondary regulations
- Experience delivering fire strategies and working across RIBA stages
- Ability to undertake FRAEW under PAS9980 preferred
- Level 6 RICS External Wall qualification desirable
- Experience using SaaS inspection and reporting platforms
- Working towards Engineering Council registration (EngTech/IEng/CEng)
- Strong organisational skills and confidence working independently
