We are seeking experienced Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to support adults with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs across services in the Southampton area.
The Role
You will provide high-quality, person-centred care within supported living, residential, and/or inpatient settings. This role requires confidence in managing complex needs, promoting independence, and working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centred care
- Supporting individuals with learning disabilities and mental health conditions
- Managing challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support
- Assisting with daily living activities while promoting independence
- Accurate documentation and reporting of care and incidents
- Working closely with nurses and allied health professionals
- Adhering to safeguarding, MCA, and CQC standards
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as an HCA in learning disability and/or mental health settings
- Knowledge of mental health conditions, learning disabilities, and complex needs
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Flexibility to work shifts (days/nights/weekends)
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
- PMVA/MAPA or similar training
- Experience in supported living, residential, or inpatient services
