Harmony is on a mission to be the best life safety partner to work with and for. Rated an “Outstanding Employer” by Best Companies in 2026, we are only getting bigger and stronger, and we’re looking for A-players to help us get there.
We are passionate about making a difference and obsessed with quality. Our goal is to build a world where every resident can sleep safely at night, knowing their home is 100% safe.
Harmony is a purpose-driven safety consultancy with in-house construction capabilities, specialising in the housing and NHS sectors. We partner with over 80% of the UK’s Housing Associations and Local Authorities, delivering pragmatic, proportionate fire safety solutions that protect lives and withstand scrutiny.
We are now looking for a Project Director to lead the delivery of our M&E and Active Fire Protection projects, based in Dudley. Reporting to the Head of Delivery, you will take overall ownership of the project team, from project managers through to site operatives and project admin, making sure every project is delivered safely, compliantly, profitably and with the “white glove” customer experience Harmony is known for.
You will be commercially accountable for a portfolio of projects ranging from small works of around £5k to large multi-site installations of up to £5 million, protecting gross profit from handover through to completion and forecasting with accuracy. You will build and lead a high-performing team of permanent staff and subcontractors, manage the supply chain and hold everyone to the standards Harmony expects on quality, compliance and health and safety.
Success in the role is measured on delivered GP at or above the GP at handover, an accurate 90-day revenue and GP forecast, customer NPS, H&S inspections completed by you and your team, and 100% adherence to our quality control process, with demonstrable compliance on every asset installed.
This is a senior role based in Dudley, with extensive travel to offices and sites across the UK, including overnight stays where needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the commercial delivery of all projects, managing project profitability and delivering GP at or above the GP set at handover.
- Maintain an accurate rolling 90-day forecast of revenue and GP across your projects.
- Own and deliver Harmony’s “white glove” customer experience, maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers, responding to feedback and adapting so that customer satisfaction stays at the heart of what we do.
- Take responsibility for the control, implementation of and adherence to all project H&S requirements, including regular H&S inspections by you and your team.
- Ensure full adherence to all quality control and compliance processes and procedures, by permanent and subcontracted team members alike, with demonstrable compliance on every asset installed.
- Inspire, manage and coach the project team, both permanent and subcontracted, to deliver project success and continuous improvement, including performance management and team productivity, while building depth of management talent.
- Develop and execute the project delivery strategy, improving the processes behind successful delivery and supporting the business’s continued growth.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers and external stakeholders involved in project delivery.
- Manage risks to the delivery of business objectives, including financial, safety, legal and contractual risks, and develop strategies to minimise and manage them effectively.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- An A-player mindset, with high standards, extreme ownership and the drive to do things properly, the first time.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar senior delivery or management role, with a tangible track record of financial and operational success.
- Proven experience managing M&E or Active Fire Protection installation projects, from small works of around £5k to large multi-site installations of up to £5 million.
- Good knowledge of fire and security systems and the standards that apply in different environments.
- Financially astute, with a detailed understanding of financial principles and the importance of sound project accounting.
- A clear understanding of HSE, building regulations and legal guidelines, and a detailed understanding of JCT, DOM and/or NEC contracts and relevant legislation.
- Excellent organisation and planning skills.
- Resourceful and adaptable, with the initiative to find a way through.
- Strong customer focus.
- A proven team builder, able to lead and develop both permanent and subcontracted teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- An ambassador for Harmony’s values and behaviours.
- Willingness to travel extensively to offices and sites across the UK, including overnight stays where needed.
- Full UK driving licence.
