Harmony is on a mission to be the best life safety partner to work with and for. Rated an ‘Outstanding Employer’ by Best Companies in 2025, we are only getting bigger and stronger — and we’re looking for A-players to help us get there. We are passionate about making a difference and obsessed with quality. Our goal is to build a world where every resident can sleep safely at night, knowing their home is 100% safe. Our Consultancy division is growing rapidly across London, with a strong pipeline of FRAEW workstreams and major social housing projects that require senior fire engineering expertise. We are looking for a Senior Fire Engineer to join the team and take ownership of complex fire engineering assessments, delivering high-quality outputs that directly shape the safety of buildings and the residents within them. This is a senior, client-facing role where technical excellence and professional credibility go hand in hand. If you are an experienced fire engineer who wants to work on meaningful, high-profile projects with a business that is genuinely committed to doing things properly — this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEW) in accordance with PAS 9980, producing detailed, accurate, and defensible reports.
  • Undertake fire engineering assessments across a range of building types and tenures, applying sound professional judgement and keeping abreast of current guidance and legislation.
  • Produce clear, well-structured fire engineering reports and recommendations for clients, ensuring outputs are technically robust and client-ready.
  • Act as the senior technical point of contact for clients on live projects, managing relationships professionally and proactively.
  • Support the growth of the London consultancy team — contributing to business development, mentoring junior engineers, and helping to build a high-performing team.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider consultancy, pre-construction, and delivery teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, and best practice — including the Building Safety Act, PAS 9980, and associated guidance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Harmony’s consultancy offering, including processes, templates, and quality standards.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • An A-player mindset — high standards, extreme ownership and the drive to do things properly, the first time.
  • Proven experience delivering FRAEW assessments in line with PAS 9980.
  • Degree-level qualification in fire engineering, building surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (IFE, RICS, CIOB or equivalent).
  • Strong technical report writing skills — able to produce clear, defensible outputs under pressure.
  • Confident client-facing skills — able to manage relationships and represent Harmony credibly at a senior level.
  • Deep working knowledge of relevant legislation and standards including the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and associated guidance.
  • Able to work independently and manage your own caseload to deadlines.
  • London-based and available full time.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on social housing or residential high-rise portfolios.
  • EWS1 signatory or working towards it.
  • Knowledge of BS 9997 and wider fire risk management frameworks.
  • Experience mentoring or developing junior fire engineers.
