Harmony is on a mission to be the best life safety partner to work with and for. Rated an ‘Outstanding Employer’ by Best Companies in 2025, we are only getting bigger and stronger — and we’re looking for A-players to help us get there. We are passionate about making a difference and obsessed with quality. Our goal is to build a world where every resident can sleep safely at night, knowing their home is 100% safe.

We are looking for a Project Director to lead our Building Fabric Delivery operation from our Chesterfield office — taking full ownership of the region’s project portfolio, driving delivery performance, developing our people, and ensuring every contract we win is delivered to the standard our clients expect and our mission demands. This is a senior leadership role with real commercial and operational accountability. You will set the standard for how Harmony delivers building fabric works — from fire doors and firestopping through to wider passive fire remediation — and you will build the team, systems, and culture that make that standard stick.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full operational and commercial accountability for the Building Fabric Delivery portfolio in Chesterfield — owning P&L, programme performance, quality, client relationships, and team development.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing delivery team — including Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and support staff — building a culture of ownership, accountability, and excellence.
  • Oversee the delivery of multiple concurrent building fabric contracts, ensuring every project is delivered on time, on budget, and to the quality standards Harmony and our clients require.
  • Own client relationships at a senior level, acting as the primary escalation point and ensuring Harmony delivers an exceptional experience on every contract.
  • Work closely with the pre-construction and commercial teams to ensure a smooth handover from bid to delivery, and that projects are set up for success from day one.
  • Monitor project financials across the portfolio — tracking costs, managing variations, controlling margin, and identifying and mitigating commercial risk.
  • Embed a robust quality and compliance framework across all delivery activity, ensuring all works meet relevant standards, client requirements, and Harmony’s internal expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement across delivery operations — identifying inefficiencies, sharing lessons learned, and working with senior leadership to improve how Harmony delivers at scale.
  • Report on delivery performance — output, quality, margin, client satisfaction, and team capacity — to the Managing Director and senior leadership team.
  • Represent Harmony externally with clients, consultants, and industry bodies, building the reputation of the business as a delivery partner of choice.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • An A-player mindset — high standards, extreme ownership and the drive to do things properly, the first time.
  • Proven track record at Director or senior management level leading the delivery of building fabric, passive fire, or closely related construction works at scale.
  • Strong P&L accountability — commercially astute with experience managing programme costs, margin, variations, and commercial risk across a multi-project portfolio.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, multi-disciplinary delivery teams — with a track record of building high-performing cultures and developing people.
  • Deep knowledge of building fabric delivery, passive fire protection systems, and the compliance and quality frameworks that govern them.
  • Excellent client management skills — able to build and maintain relationships at the highest level and manage escalations professionally and constructively.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in a construction delivery environment.
  • Commercially literate and analytically strong — comfortable with programme reporting, financial management, and performance data.
  • Chesterfield office-based and available full time.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Job Benefits
