The family is seeking a sole charge Nanny to work 4 or 5 days a week in Newbury, Berkshire. The role involves caring for their twins, aged 8, who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The children are verbal, have language delays of a few years, and are currently enrolled in a mainstream school with 1:1 support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, responsive care for the twins during school hours, split or full shifts as required.
- Apply creativity to engage the children in learning and play, including outdoor activities, dance, and music.
- Perform housekeeping duties related to the children, such as batch cooking, changing bedding, and laundry.
- Drive to and from child‑related appointments and activities.
Working Hours
- Mon‑Thu or Mon‑Fri during term time. Term time: 1:00 pm‑6:00 pm (or split 7:00 am‑9:00 am & 3:00 pm‑6:00 pm).
- School holidays: 8:00 am‑6:00 pm Mon‑Thu or Mon‑Fri.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years experience caring for children of the same age.
- Childcare qualifications essential.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Current, up‑to‑date DBS on the Update Service.
- 12‑hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Minimum of two professional referees, one being the current or last employer.
- Ability to work with children with ASD (prior experience preferred but not required).
Salary
£20‑£23 gross per hour, based on experience. This equates to £37,375 gross per annum when working Monday‑Friday 1 pm‑6 pm in term time and 8 am‑6 pm in holidays, pro‑rated over the year.
