Job Summary
A first-time mother is seeking an experienced maternity practitioner to provide overnight support following the arrival of her baby, due on 29th July 2026. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in newborn care, confident in supporting a natural birth, and able to respect and guide the mother’s parenting choices while applying current NHS guidance and evidence-based newborn care.

- Hourly rate: £25 per hour
- Hours of work: 8 pm – 8 am
- Days required: up to 5 nights a week
- Role: Qualified Maternity Practitioner (Level 3 minimum)
- Experience required: 5 years in the role
- Qualifications needed: 12‑hr paediatric first aid, Enhanced DBS, Maternity Practitioner (L3 minimum), Safeguarding L2
- No driving required
- Accommodation offered within the baby’s environment
- Holiday booked at the end of September or start of October
Responsibilities
- Provide overnight support to the mother and newborn following birth.
- Assist with newborn feeding, sleep, and recognition of developmental milestones.
- Apply current NHS guidance, safe sleep recommendations, and evidence-based newborn care practices.
- Respect and support the mother’s parenting choices while offering informed advice.
- Maintain accurate records of care and observations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Qualified Maternity Practitioner (Level 3 or higher).
- At least 5 years experience in maternity or newborn care.
- 12‑hour paediatric first aid certificate, up to date.
- Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
- Safeguarding Level 2 certificate.
- Minimum of two professional referees, including current or last employer.
- Professional insurance recommended (maternity practitioner/consultant insurance).
