A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a nanny experienced in newborn care to join a lovely family in Hitchin, North Hertfordshire, from the end of June or beginning of July. The warm and friendly professional couple is looking for a kind, nurturing, and experienced nanny to help care for their eight‑week‑old newborn baby boy. They are flexible about whether the role is live‑in or live‑out for the right person and are keen to find someone who is looking to commit long‑term and become a valued part of their family.
Responsibilities
- You will be caring for one delightful newborn baby boy aged eight weeks, establishing and maintaining the baby's routines, supporting healthy sleep habits, and providing attentive, nurturing care.
- As the baby grows, you will plan age‑appropriate activities to encourage development and provide stimulating and engaging experiences at home and out and about.
- Your duties will include all aspects of childcare: preparing and sterilising bottles, keeping the nursery and all baby areas clean and organised, taking care of the baby's laundry, ensuring clothing and equipment are well maintained, and preparing healthy meals and snacks as weaning approaches.
- Some light household duties related to the child and keeping the home running smoothly will be appreciated.
Qualifications
- Previous experience caring for babies from birth is essential.
- You should be calm, confident, knowledgeable, warm, trustworthy, and organised, with a proactive approach and a genuine love of working with young children.
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate (update) and a paediatric first aid qualification.
- Fluently speaking English is required.
- A driver is advantageous but not essential.
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday, 08:00–18:00 (40 hours per week). There may be occasional additional hours by mutual agreement; flexibility would be appreciated when required.
Location and Accommodation
Hitchin, Hertfordshire. If you live in, accommodation will be a large bedroom with an en‑suite.
Benefits and Salary
- Live‑in: £31,200 gross per annum, with mutually agreed overtime paid at £16 gross per hour.
- Live‑out: £37,440 gross per annum, with mutually agreed overtime paid at £18 gross per hour.
This is a permanent role.
Additional Information
- Minimum experience: Three years, with newborn experience essential.
- Training required: 12‑hour Paediatric First Aid and Enhanced DBS (update).
- Qualifications: Level 3 childcare is desirable, experience essential.
- Pets: None in the home.
- Driving: Not essential but advantageous; own fully insured car required, duty mileage paid.
- Job start date: End of June / beginning of July 2026.
