A lovely second-time family are looking for an experienced Maternity Practitioner to support them for three weeks following the arrival of their newborn, who will be born via C-section. The family would ideally like the Maternity Practitioner to support Mum and baby from day one in hospital, providing knowledgeable, reassuring and hands-on support as they begin their journey together.

Mum is keen to breastfeed and would really value support from the outset with establishing breastfeeding and building a good milk supply, including supporting mum at the hospital. Once the supply is established and depending on the feeding, mum is happy to combination feed. The successful candidate should be confident supporting breastfeeding and be up to date with current NHS guidance and safe sleep practices. They will also help the family establish a gentle early routine that works well for everyone.

The role will involve supporting Mum with her recovery following the C-section, caring for and settling the newborn, and helping the family adjust to life with two children. The older sibling is very excited about the new arrival and is keen to be involved wherever possible, so the Maternity Practitioner should be warm and encouraging in helping to foster a positive and loving sibling relationship.

The family would ideally like support 7 days a week, although they are happy to consider a 6-day working week for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Maternity Practitioner who is confident working within a private family home and has extensive newborn experience. They should have a calm, nurturing and supportive approach, be confident caring for a newborn, and have relatable experience of supporting families during the early postnatal period.

This is a lovely opportunity for an experienced Maternity Practitioner to provide invaluable support to a family as they settle into life with their new baby.
