A warm and welcoming family based in Penn, Buckinghamshire, is seeking an experienced and energetic Family Assistant/Nanny to support their busy household from September 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity to become an important part of family life, helping to care for two cheerful boys aged six and three while ensuring the home runs smoothly.
The ideal candidate will be positive, organised, active, and proactive, with a genuine love of working with children. The role combines childcare with family support duties, making it perfect for someone who enjoys variety and taking initiative. The eldest child attends school full-time, while the youngest attends nursery two days each week. Outside of school and nursery hours, you will plan engaging activities, encourage outdoor play, organise creative games, and support the children’s development in a fun and nurturing environment.
Hours
- Term Time (34 weeks): Monday–Thursday: 07.30-18.30, Friday: 13.00–16.00, Total: 47 hours/week
- School Holidays (18 weeks): Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 07.30–18.00, Wednesday: 09.00 – 18:00, Friday: 09.00–16.00, Total: 47.5 hours/week
Salary will be paid evenly across the year. Additional babysitting and occasional extra hours may be available and will be agreed and paid separately. During school holidays, you will have the opportunity to organise enjoyable outings and educational adventures, including trips to local attractions, outdoor activities, and play centres. Encouraging friendships and social interaction will also form an important part of the role.
Responsibilities
- School and nursery collections, along with transport to activities and clubs
- Family laundry and ironing
- Keeping children’s bedrooms, play areas, and belongings organised
- Preparing school uniforms, sports kits, and daily essentials
- Assisting with homework and encouraging good routines
- Preparing healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for the children
- Maintaining tidy communal areas and helping with light household tasks such as unloading the dishwasher and putting away shopping
A confident driver with a clean driving licence and your own fully insured vehicle is essential. Mileage incurred during working hours will be reimbursed. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic childcare professional looking to build a long-term relationship with a lovely family.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum experience required: Two years
- Level 3 childcare if possible, but experience essential
- Enhanced DBS (update) and 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid
- Must have an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, a 12 hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate and a minimum of two professional referees who are happy for you to share their contact details to recruiters. One of your references must be your current or last employer and both references must be immediately contactable.
