Commercial Manager | Historic Museum Organisation
Harmonic are delighted to be working exclusively with a leading historic museum, in the search for a commercial manager in an exciting new phase for the organisation.
The Business:
Since opening in the 1990s, our client has a rich and vast history in terms of their exhibits and the specific space they operate in. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits, learn about pioneering achievements, and even experience flight simulators. Described as a must-visit for history and engineering enthusiasts, there is a unique insight into Britain\’s rich history.
Featuring in multiple TV shows and documentaries over the last few years, the organisation is one of the most highly reputable museum institutions in the UK, attracting tens of thousands of visitors and hosting multiple events each year. With a strong senior leadership team in place, led by a CEO who takes great pride in the collaborative and hard working nature of his colleagues, this is a hugely exciting opportunity to have real influence across the business as they continue to grow moving forward.
The Role:
This newly created role will be a highly commercial position, with a huge amount of autonomy and influence on offer. Partnering with a COO and CEO, and working across retail, catering, hospitality and bespoke packages, the successful candidate will need strong stakeholder management skills with a real ambitious, driven approach to inspire and lead the team.
With line management duties required, there will also be a mentorship and training element to the role. Identifying new business opportunities, leads, building client bases, developing products, and working on new marketing opportunities, this role will be broad, exciting and fast paced in nature.
Duties:
- Lead on delivering commercial strategy to grow income across key revenue streams
- Work with the Marketing Team to ensure all products (present and future) align with marketing strategy and brand.
- Monitor sales across all commercial income streams to ensure successful meeting of targets
- Develop and implement forward sales strategies for each commercial income stream, including relevant trade shows and targeted B2B forums and networks.
- Build and nurture external relationships with relevant industry bodies and businesses that support commercial activity growth
- Work with the Catering and Hospitality Manager to set annual targets for hospitality and venue hire
- Identify future opportunities for premium experience packages that are market relevant and can drive additional profit into the organisation.
- Take responsibility for our online retail offer, working with the Admissions and Retail Manager effectively
- Discuss future business development opportunities with the CEO and COO
- Budget management and forecasting in liaison with the Finance Team.
- Line management of Sales Executive, Special Events Officer and Bookings Administrator
