Harmonic are delighted to be partnering with a well-funded, high-growth business that is changing how start-ups manage their finances. Pairing specialist accountants with its own in-house technology, it has built a large client base of venture-backed founders in a short space of time and has ambitious plans to scale significantly over the next year. Many of its clients operate across the US and UK. As they grow, open new entities and raise capital, demand for transfer pricing support has grown quickly, and the business is now launching a dedicated transfer pricing offering for this hire to build.

Working directly alongside the CEO and co-founder, the Transfer Pricing Director will build and lead the transfer pricing function from scratch and own it end to end. There is no existing TP team or framework in place, so you will shape the service itself: what is offered, how it is priced and how it is delivered, with the CEO moving to an oversight role as the function matures.

This is a hands-on, senior technical role. You will set up and price intercompany arrangements, write the agreements behind them and make sure what the delivery teams book matches policy. You will be the person founders and the accounting team turn to when a client opens a US entity, flips to a Delaware parent, moves IP, hires in a new country or faces investor due diligence. You will also work with the engineering and product teams to automate the parts of the process that repeat across a large client base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and own the transfer pricing offering end to end, from service design and pricing to delivery
  • Set up and price intercompany arrangements for clients, primarily US parent and UK subsidiary structures
  • Draft intercompany agreements and transfer pricing policies, and build templates that scale across the client base
  • Review client bookkeeping and year-end accounts to ensure intercompany charges reflect the agreed policy
  • Advise founders on structural events including US entity set-up, Delaware flips, IP transfers and first hires in new jurisdictions
  • Support clients and their investors through transfer pricing questions in due diligence
  • Act as the go-to technical expert on transfer pricing for the accounting and US tax teams
  • Partner with engineering and product to automate repeatable parts of the process

Essential Experience

  • Strong technical transfer pricing experience, gained in practice, in-house or both
  • The confidence and capability to lead a transfer pricing function end to end and build it from scratch
  • Hands-on experience setting up intercompany arrangements and drafting intercompany agreements
  • Exposure to US and UK cross-border structures
  • Able to explain complex technical issues in plain terms to founders without a finance background

Desirable Experience

  • CTA qualification (or ACA/CTA)
  • Experience advising start-up, scale-up or venture-backed businesses
  • Interest in technology and how automation is changing tax and accounting

Package

  • Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 + benefits
  • Location: Central London on site, or fully remote within the UK
  • Start Date: Flexible
