Harmonic is delighted to be partnering with a growing FinTech scale-up in the financial services space. Backed by an experienced leadership team and now trading at meaningful scale, the business is moving from its traditional finance roots toward a more product-led culture, with a finance-literate CEO driving a new phase of operational maturity. It operates in a regulated environment and is at an interesting inflection point.

The Interim Head of Finance will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function through a period of leadership transition. This is a hands-on role first and foremost: the priority is to steady the function, keep financial control, reporting and planning running cleanly, and get up to speed quickly with a complex fee model. Alongside the operational core, you will act as the second-line owner for client money oversight and partner with the executive team on budgeting, forecasting and commercial decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the monthly management accounts, financial control framework and balance sheet integrity, keeping the function audit-ready throughout the transition.
  • Oversee tax, VAT and regulatory reporting, plus payroll oversight (outsourced) and year-end audit.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and cashflow monitoring, and produce clear financial insight for the executive team.
  • Reviewing and challenging first-line controls alongside Risk and Compliance.
  • Manage and support one part-qualified management accountant, steadying the team through the FD transition.
  • Partner with the executive team on budgeting, capex and commercial decisions.

Essential Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • Strong technical accounting and financial control background, gained in a startup or scale-up environment.
  • Genuinely hands-on operator who can get feet under the table quickly and steady a small team.
  • High EQ and strong stakeholder management; a relationship-builder, not just a technician.
  • Comfortable owning management accounts, reporting and planning end-to-end.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience within fintech, banking, wealth management or financial services.
  • Exposure to FCA-regulated businesses and client money or client assets governance.
  • Experience of complex or B2B2C fee structures.
  • Experience supporting scaling businesses and improving finance processes.

Package:

  • Day Rate: £550-650 per day (candidate rate, dependent on experience)
  • Location: London, hybrid (3 days in office, Tuesday to Thursday)
  • Duration: Full-time interim, scope to extend or convert
  • Start Date: Early-to-mid September 2026, to allow handover with the outgoing FD
