Financial Controller | Luxury Design & Manufacturing Business | South East London

The Client

Harmonic are delighted to be partnering with an international, founder-led luxury design and manufacturing business. It works with some of the most recognisable names in its field, producing high-value, limited-run collections from its own studios in London and Europe and selling them to customers around the world.

This is a business in a period of real growth and change. A new sales channel which launched this year is driving strong growth, with ambitious plans to go further in the year ahead. There is significant investment going into the operation, including new warehousing in the UK and Europe, expansion of its European production facility and a new stock system arriving next year.

A strong in-house tech team is automating much of the business, and every team is now planning for a step change in volume, moving from a new collection every few weeks towards several a week. Finance has been transformed under a new Finance Director, and this role is critical for their next stage of growth, perfect for a finance professional who loves feeling their impact in an SME environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be the finance lead at the business's production site in Southeast London, home to its in-house making studios and warehouses. This is a hands-on, forward-facing role and a genuine chance to put your mark on something: you will own stock, costing and production finance end to end, working side by side with the Head of Production to build the processes and systems the business needs to scale.

You will be the most senior finance person on site, with regular exposure to the founder, and your analysis will directly shape how the business prices, produces and measures each collection. Your work here will be seen and acted on.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own stock accounting across raw materials, work in progress and finished goods, including month-end stock reconciliations
  • Build and own the costing for each collection, so the business knows its expected margin before production starts
  • Track each collection through production, working closely with UK and European production teams
  • Calculate and own revenue share returns to the business's creative partners, ensuring the full cost base is captured
  • Lead the implementation of a purchase order system, training the wider team and making sure it is adopted
  • Shape stock and production processes ahead of the new stock system going live
  • Review and approve stock, supplier and warehouse invoices

Essential Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience in a production, manufacturing or workshop environment, ideally on site rather than in a head office
  • Strong grounding in product costing, stock valuation and WIP
  • Confidence to build processes from scratch and get teams across the business to adopt them
  • Personable, articulate and comfortable working with production teams and senior stakeholders alike

Desirable Experience

  • Background in high-value, low-volume or bespoke production, such as luxury goods, furniture, lighting, print or packaging
  • Experience in a founder-led business going through growth or change
  • Experience implementing purchase order or stock systems

Package

Salary: Β£100,000 - Β£120,000 + benefits

Location: Southeast London (4 days a week on site)

Start Date: Flexible
