The Client

A founder-led consumer manufacturing business that has built a serious following in a category long dominated by legacy brands. Growth has been quick across the UK and into international markets, and the business is now investing in the infrastructure to support the next phase, including a move from Xero to NetSuite and a wider rebuild of the finance systems stack. The London HQ is collaborative and hands-on, with a real focus on innovation and sustainability.

The Role

Supporting the number one in finance, this is a role for someone who wants to build rather than maintain. You will support the month-end close, own the AP and AR ledgers (transactional processing sits with an outsourced provider, so your focus is oversight, accuracy, cash collection and resolving anything that gets stuck), and play a central part in the migration from Xero to NetSuite. Just as important is the appetite to improve how the function runs: automating manual work, using AI tools properly, and designing processes rather than inheriting them. The ambition is a best in class finance function, not one that simply keeps pace with the growth.

This will suit either a credit control or AR specialist from an FMCG or consumer business who is ready for a broader step into management accounts, or a management accountant who is happy to keep their hands on the ledgers while building something better around them. Ideally you will have run AR or sales ledger for supermarket or major grocery customers, where the volume, the deductions and the payment terms are a different discipline entirely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the month-end close, including accruals, prepayments and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Own the AP and AR ledgers, managing the outsourced provider and holding them to accuracy and service standards
  • Drive cash collection and credit control across retail and trade customers, resolving disputes, deductions and short payments
  • Manage customer trading and EDI flows through TrueCommerce, keeping order, invoicing and remittance data clean
  • Play a core role in the Xero to NetSuite migration: data cleansing, mapping, testing and process design
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, and maintain the fixed asset register
  • Assist in producing the management accounts and wider reporting pack
  • Identify and build automation and AI assisted improvements across reporting, reconciliations and finance admin

Essential Experience

  • 2+ years in a finance role within a consumer, FMCG or manufacturing business
  • Strong AP, AR and credit control experience, with a track record of getting cash in
  • AR or sales ledger experience with supermarket or major grocery accounts is the strongest fit, including deductions, claims and retailer payment terms
  • Confident with balance sheet reconciliations and the mechanics of month-end
  • Genuinely strong with technology: quick to pick up new platforms, high level Excel, and already using AI tools to work faster and better
  • Xero experience
  • A builder's mindset; you want to fix and improve processes, not just run them

Desirable Experience

  • TrueCommerce, or a comparable EDI and order-to-cash platform such as SPS Commerce, Cin7 or Brightpearl
  • Exposure to an ERP implementation or migration, ideally NetSuite
  • Experience working alongside an outsourced or offshore finance provider
  • Exposure to management accounts production and reporting

Package

  • Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
  • Location: London HQ, two days working from home
