Harmonic are delighted to be supporting a founder-led, highly cash-generative tech business in the search for their first Head of Finance & Operations.
Operating within a specialist, data-led niche, the business has built a market-leading product and a loyal customer base, underpinned by a consistently strong commercial engine. With c.30 employees and revenues in the region of £15m, they have reached a stage where increased structure across finance and operations is key to unlocking the next phase of growth.
This is a pivotal hire, working directly with the founder to bring greater visibility, organisation and scalability across the business, while reducing day-to-day dependency and enabling more efficient growth.
This is a broad, high-impact role sitting at the centre of the business, with responsibility across finance, operations, and general commercial coordination. You will work closely with the founder to bring structure, visibility, and scalability across both finance and operational processes, while remaining hands-on where needed in a lean environment. The role is split roughly across finance (40%), operations (40%), and legal/commercial coordination (20%).
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and improving financial reporting, including group-level visibility across multiple entities and revenue streams
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to support decision-making
- Overseeing month-end and working closely with external accountants, while remaining hands-on where required
- Bringing greater structure and organisation to operational processes across the business
- Coordinating key operational areas including HR, IT, and external providers
- Supporting legal and commercial processes, including contract management and documentation
- Improving systems, tooling, and processes across finance and operations (e.g. Xero, banking, payroll, reporting)
- Acting as a key partner to the founder, reducing reliance on them for day-to-day finance and operational matters
- Supporting ad-hoc projects across the business as it continues to scale
We are particularly interested in candidates who:
- Have experience operating in SME environments, ideally in founder-led or high-growth businesses
- Are comfortable owning both finance and operational responsibilities in a broad role
- Have strong financial fundamentals across management reporting, forecasting, and planning
- Take a hands-on approach and are willing to roll up their sleeves where needed
- Bring a high level of ownership and accountability, with a proactive mindset
- Have experience working in technology or software-led businesses (preferred, not essential)
This role would suit someone looking to step into a true number one position within a small but highly successful business, with the opportunity to shape how finance and operations are run.
Location: London – team in the office on Thursdays, otherwise flexible
Salary: up to £120,000 + bonus
