The Client

Harmonic is delighted to be partnering with a fast-growing supplier to the luxury hospitality sector, working with high-end hotels and brands across Europe. Having started in one product category, the business has broadened its range considerably and has recently become part of a newly formed group of specialist luxury businesses.

Growth is strong, with revenue on track to rise by around a quarter this year and a team that has grown several times over in under three years. Finance is at the center of what comes next. The UK business is the group’s test case for a significant change in how customers are billed, and the finance team will help deliver it over the coming year.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Assistant will join a finance team of three and bridge the gap between AP, AR and management accounting. This is a hands-on role with an analytical edge: invoicing is largely automated, so the value lies in checking the numbers, understanding how they are produced and spotting where formulas or data fall short.

You will support a tight month-end close (five working days, driven by group deadlines) and play a part in the entity integration programme, building Excel data models to help move customers across more than 20 European entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and check supplier invoices, payment runs and customer invoicing, coding costs to the right ledgers so management accounts are accurate.
• Manage cash allocation, credit control and query resolution across AP and AR for all UK entities.
• Support the monthly close within the five-working-day group deadline, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Review automated journals and reports, making sure formulas extend across all the data and every output can be explained.
• Build and maintain Excel data models that support the transfer of customers between billing entities across 20+ European countries.
• Assist with management accounts, reporting packs, variance analysis, budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
• Support VAT returns, audit preparation and financial controls.
• Cover colleagues during holidays and busy periods, and help improve processes as the function scales.
• 2-3 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Advanced Excel and data modelling skills.
• Hands-on experience across both AP and AR.
• Experience assisting with month-end close and working to firm deadlines.
• Recent, current experience of working across the finance function in a small or fast-moving business, not a role that has narrowed to one task.
• Independent and proactive, with strong communication skills and confidence working with colleagues from junior to director level.
• ERP experience.
• FMCG industry experience.
• Exposure to financial reporting, VAT and audit.
• Experience in a regional office of a global group.

Location: London, hybrid working pattern (3:2).
