Harmonic are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a London-based FinTech in their search for a Fractional CFO to work 2-3 days per week.
The Client
Our client has created a platform that is now embedded in the day to day operations of its clients, a base made up of large financial and corporate institutions. The business is founder-led, established, and growing quickly on the back of a product that has become part of how its market works rather than a nice to have.
They are looking for a Fractional CFO to work alongside the founders on a 2-3 day per week basis for an initial six months, with every expectation the engagement continues.
The Role
This is a hands-on fractional engagement reporting directly to the CEO. You will own the finance function end to end: reporting, cash, commercial modelling and the numbers that go in front of the board and investors. Revenue is growing quickly against a small number of large enterprise contracts and the finance function needs to catch up with that. There is an outsourced bookkeeping function to support. The immediate priority is building reporting and forecasting the founders can run the business on, followed by putting the commercial and control foundations in place for the next stage of growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly reporting cycle and produce a board pack the founders and investors can rely on.
- Build and maintain the cash flow forecast and drive the operating model against it.
- Take ownership of ARR, retention and unit economics reporting across an enterprise SaaS revenue base.
- Lead commercial modelling on pricing, contract structures and new market entry.
- Manage the statutory accounts, audit and R&D tax credit process with external advisors.
- Put in place the financial controls and processes the business will be measured against at the next raise or transaction.
- Support the founders on investor reporting and fundraising preparation.
- Act as a commercial sounding board to a founding team from a trading rather than finance background.
Essential Experience
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Track record as a CFO or FD in a VC-backed B2B software or FinTech business.
- Comfortable operating fractionally: able to land quickly, prioritise ruthlessly and work without a team underneath you.
- Strong commercial modelling and forecasting, with the ability to translate it for a non-finance audience.
- Experience building a finance function from a standing start rather than inheriting one.
Desirable Experience
- Experience taking a business through a funding round or a sale process.
Day Rate: Β£700-800 per day
Location: Central London, 2 days per week in the office
Contract: Initial six months, 2-3 days per week, with strong likelihood of extension
Start Date: ASAP start (September)
