The Client

Harmonic is partnering with a Series A fintech that has built a proprietary payments and card platform, now powering co‑branded programmes for some of the biggest names in travel and hospitality. Named on the Financial Times’ 2026 Fast Growth list, the business has moved well beyond its initial consumer product to become a scalable B2B2C platform, signing major enterprise partnerships and expanding internationally. Backed by strong investors and operating in an FCA‑regulated environment, they’re at the stage where finance infrastructure needs to keep pace with commercial momentum. This is a small, lean team that punches well above its weight, heavily leveraging AI and automation across the finance function. If you want broad exposure in a business that’s scaling fast and doing finance differently, this is worth a closer look.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a hands‑on Financial Accountant role sitting within a combined Finance & Data Science team. You’ll own core financial operations (month‑end, reconciliations, payments, supplier management) while also getting meaningful exposure to FP&A, investor reporting, and commercial analysis that you simply wouldn’t get in a larger team. The finance function here is tech‑enabled and automation‑first. You’ll be expected to improve processes, not just run them. The team works closely with data science on commercial and strategic analysis, so there’s genuine cross‑functional exposure beyond traditional accounting. This is a good fit for someone with 2–5 years’ experience who is either part‑qualified and studying, or newly qualified, and wants to accelerate their development in a high‑growth, regulated fintech rather than waiting for the next rung in a big‑team hierarchy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support month‑end management accounts preparation and own supplier invoice reconciliations, cost allocations, and daily FX settlements.
  • Prepare monthly financial and operational reporting for investors and senior leadership.
  • Support annual budgeting, cashflow forecasting, and cash management.
  • Business partner with teams across the business on P&L reviews, cost savings, and optimisation initiatives.
  • Assist with year‑end management and statutory accounts, corporation tax, quarterly VAT returns, and other statutory submissions.
  • Manage the relationship with outsourced bookkeepers and support FCA return preparation.
  • Work closely with the data science function on commercial, strategic, and operational analysis.
  • Support new co‑brand partnership launches and international expansion initiatives as the business scales.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years’ experience in a financial accounting, management accounting, or finance operations role.
  • Part‑qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and actively studying, or newly qualified. Candidates with equivalent on‑the‑job experience (minimum 2–3 years) will also be considered.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfortable working with financial systems.
  • Proactive and organised, able to manage multiple priorities across finance and finance‑adjacent tasks (operational, compliance, etc.).
  • Comfortable working cross‑functionally with non‑finance teams.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or financial services.
  • Exposure to cross‑currency treasury management or FX operations.
  • Experience with Xero or similar cloud accounting platforms.
  • Previous experience in a start‑up or scale‑up environment.

Why This Is Worth Your Time

  • Lean finance team that’s heavily AI and automation‑enabled.
  • You’ll learn modern finance tooling, not just spreadsheets.
  • Real FP&A and commercial exposure alongside core accounting, which is rare at this level of seniority.
  • FT Fast Growth 2026 listed business with major enterprise partnerships signed and international expansion underway.
  • Work directly with the data science team on strategic analysis, with genuine cross‑functional exposure.
  • FCA‑regulated environment, giving you experience that transfers well across financial services.
  • Small team, high ownership. Your contributions are visible and valued.
