The Client

Harmonic is partnering with a fast-growing, VC-backed enterprise software business that helps large organisations automate complex, high-stakes operational workflows using AI. Their products are used by major enterprises across financial services, professional services, and manufacturing - and they have a serious technical team to back it up. Around 40 people, ambitious growth targets, and a culture that is genuinely technical across every function. They don’t just talk about AI - they build it. And now they want to run their own finance and operations function the same way they sell their product: AI-native, systemised, and lean. This hire is a major investment in building the finance function to be the engine room for the whole business, and there is real scope to shape what it becomes.

The Role

This is not a standard finance hire. You’ll work directly alongside the CFO as the sole finance operations resource - no team to manage, no processes to inherit. Your job is to build the infrastructure that makes a two-person finance function capable of supporting a business scaling toward $15M+ ARR. You’ll start by triaging the current stack and patching integrations while a full ERP migration gets underway. Then you’ll lead that migration, own the close engine, automate AP and treasury, and build a live quote-to-cash pipeline from CRM through to collections. In the second half of the year, you’ll work directly with the engineering team to deploy AI agents into live finance workflows. The split is roughly 70–80% FinOps initially, with RevOps growing in scope once the foundations are solid. With clear scope for you to own FP&A.

Responsibilities

  • Triage the current ERP setup and patch integrations with HRIS, expense, and spend management tools in the interim.
  • Lead ERP vendor evaluation and selection - you’ll have vendor migration support, but you own the technical due diligence and final recommendation.
  • Lead the full migration: data mapping, integrations, go-live.
  • Automate the close engine: target ≤5 business days with >80% of journals running automatically.
  • Configure AP, treasury, and expense workflows for touchless processing.
  • Connect HubSpot through contract execution, ERP invoicing, and automated collections.
  • Build the FP&A data layer: actuals feed automatically into planning tools and board packs - no manual prep.
  • Work with the engineering team to deploy at least two AI agents into live finance workflows (e.g. commission calculation, variance narrative generation).

Experience Requirements

  • 3–6 years in finance systems, RevOps, or technical finance operations. Systems architect and operator.
  • Direct experience with at least one next-generation, AI-native ERP platform, or experience building AI onto NetSuite.
  • An AI-native working style. You use AI tools day-to-day to accelerate reconciliations, clean data, and turn SOPs into repeatable workflows - not just in theory.
  • Comfortable working directly alongside engineering and data teams. You can hold your own in a technical conversation.
  • Startup or scale-up background. You’ve operated without a full support function, and you prefer it that way.
  • Light SQL or Python ability.
  • HubSpot and/or HiBob integration experience.
  • Workflow automation experience (Zapier, Make, n8n, or similar).
  • SaaS revenue recognition (IFRS 15 / ASC 606).
  • Experience having serious vendor conversations and shortlisting ERP platforms.
  • Background in Management Consulting/Investment Banking.
