The Client

Harmonic is exclusively partnering with a fast‑growing, VC‑backed enterprise software business that helps large organisations automate complex, high‑stakes operational workflows using AI. Their products are used by major enterprises across sectors. Around 40 people, ambitious growth targets, and a culture that is genuinely technical across every function. They don’t just talk about AI – they build it. And now they want to run their own finance and operations function the same way they sell their product: AI‑native, systemised, and lean. This hire is a major investment in building the finance function to be the engine room for the whole business, and there is real scope to shape what it becomes.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Finance Manager will own the finance operations layer as the sole finance hire below CFO level. The mandate is to automate the close, modernise the systems stack, and progressively build a function capable of supporting a business scaling toward $15m ARR with minimal manual overhead. The CFO retains FP&A and strategic finance; the expectation is that this person grows into those areas as the function matures. This is an individual‑contributor role with direct CFO access and broad reach across finance operations, revenue operations, and internal AI deployment alongside the engineering team. The role is suited to a qualified accountant who wants to move beyond the month‑end cycle and into a mandate where agentic AI is the primary tool for creating leverage.

Responsibilities

  • Own the month‑end close end‑to‑end, with a clear mandate to automate: target five business days or fewer, with the majority of journals running automatically.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow, feeding directly into board reporting.
  • Oversee AP, AR, and treasury, building toward touchless processing across payables and expenses.
  • Lead VAT and statutory compliance, and act as the primary contact for the annual audit.
  • Configure and deploy AI agents into live finance workflows, working directly alongside the engineering team.
  • Support across FP&A, RevOps partnering directly with the COO, Commercial/Growth and Engineering teams.
  • Own the finance systems stack, including ERP, and manage integrations with CRM (HubSpot), HRIS (HiBob), and spend management tools.
  • Build the automated reporting layer so actuals feed directly into forecasting tools and board packs, removing manual preparation.
  • Work closely with the COO/CFO to build out the quote‑to‑cash pipeline from CRM through to invoicing and collections, with scope to own revenue operations over time.

Experience Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent), with 2 to 4 years of post‑qualified experience.
  • Experience owning month‑end close and management accounts end‑to‑end in a scaling or start‑up environment.
  • A hands‑on, agentic approach to AI: you are already building and configuring AI workflows in a real work context, not just using AI tools day‑to‑day.
  • Comfortable working directly alongside engineering and data teams.
  • Start‑up or scale‑up background, with the ability to operate without a support function.
  • Experience with modern or AI‑native ERP platforms (Rillet, Campfire, Light, or similar).
  • HubSpot or CRM‑to‑ERP integration experience.
  • Workflow automation experience (Zapier, Make, n8n, or similar).
  • Familiarity with SaaS revenue recognition (IFRS 15 / ASC 606).

Location: West London, 3 days in office / 2 days remote.
