A newly created Financial Controller role at one of the most recognised consumer brands in the world, leading a large in-house finance team in London and reporting directly to the Finance Director.
There are very few consumer brands that genuinely stop people in their tracks. This is one of them: a global footprint, a huge and loyal following, and a product known for its quality and longevity.
For the right qualified accountant, this is a step up in scope rather than a sideways move. You take group-level financial control across a multi-entity, multi-currency operation, day-to-day leadership of 10+ in-house reports, ownership of a significant global stock holding, and a central seat on a live ERP programme. The role exists because the business is in confident growth mode and is deliberately investing in the finance leadership infrastructure to support what comes next.
Whoever takes it builds the control environment the next phase of international expansion runs on.
The finance function sits at the heart of a business growing with real conviction: a large finance team, a sophisticated international operation, and ambitious plans for continued expansion. This Financial Controller role is a direct result of that growth.
Reporting to the Finance Director, you sit at the top of a large, well-resourced finance team. You are the engine room of the function: the person who ensures every number is right, every process is tight, and every team member knows exactly what they are doing and why it matters. You will be a trusted partner to the wider finance leadership team, with a remit touching every corner of the function. It is a role for someone who leads from the front, builds accountability into teams, and fixes problems before they become issues.
What you will be doing:
- Own end-to-end financial control across the group: month-end close, year-end close, balance sheet integrity, statutory reporting and external audit.
- Take full ownership of the Accounts Payable function: payment runs, invoice processing, banking controls and supplier master data, at high volume and to a high standard.
- Lead inventory and stock accounting across a significant global stock holding: valuation, movement tracking and reconciliation.
- Lead a large in-house finance team day to day, with a focus on clarity of ownership, development and continuous improvement.
- Design, maintain and strengthen the internal controls framework in line with audit requirements and best practice.
- Drive process improvement and systems optimisation, with particular focus on the ongoing ERP programme.
What we are looking for:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Background in retail, consumer goods, FMCG or global product brands, ideally with meaningful inventory exposure.
- Proven experience managing 10+ direct reports in-house rather than outsourced teams, with the presence and emotional intelligence to lead across all levels of seniority.
- Past experience as a Finance Controller, Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager, Group Finance Manager or Group Financial Accountant.
- International or global business exposure across multi-currency, multi-entity environments.
- A process-driven mindset, strong systems proficiency, and a track record of improving financial operations at scale.
Package:
- Salary: Up to £110,000 + Bonus.
- Location: London.
- Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days at home.
