- Interim Head of Finance | Rapid Growth Fin Tech Scale-Up | London
- The Client
Harmonic is delighted to be partnering with a high-growth, well-backed Fin Tech at an exciting stage of its journey.
Having built real scale and a strong position in its market, the business is entering a pivotal new chapter, and finance has a central role to play in setting it up for the next phase of growth.
It is a genuinely exciting time to join.
The Role
Reporting into the CFO, the Interim Head of Finance will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function through a busy period of growth and change.
This is a hands-on leadership role first and foremost: the priority is to steady and lead the team, keep month-end, statutory and technical accounting running cleanly, and get up to speed quickly with a complex, industry-specific P&L.
Alongside the operational core, you will assess and strengthen the team structure, drive process improvement across the function, and help the business get more out of its finance systems.
Part of the brief is to free the CFO from the day-to-day so they can focus on the strategic agenda.
This is an initial three-month interim with the potential to extend.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, stabilise and strengthen the finance team through a period of growth and change, assessing structure and shaping the right team for the future.
- Own the month-end close, statutory accounting and technical accounting, keeping the function accurate and audit-ready.
- Drive process improvement, reducing manual processes and reliance on spreadsheets across the function.
- Get more out of the finance systems, building out workflows and moving the team beyond the basics.
- Manage a distributed team across multiple locations, keeping people aligned and supported remotely.
- Partner with the CFO and wider leadership through a period of transformation.
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA), with a strong technical accounting foundation gained in audit.
- Fin Tech experience, ideally within payments or consumer Fin Tech
- Startup or scale-up background, comfortable operating in a fast-moving, changing environment.
- Genuine transformation or change experience; someone who can assess a team, make hard calls and rebuild.
- Hands-on operator who will get involved in the detail as well as lead, and who is comfortable managing remotely.
- Exposure to regulated financial services environments.
- Experience improving or integrating finance systems in a scaling business.
- Track record of improving finance processes and driving automation.
