Financial Controller | Renowned Private Equity Fund | London

Harmonic are delighted to be working exclusively with a world-renowned PE Fund in their search for a Financial Controller to run their internal finance operations. The fund invests heavily in the global late-stage technology startup and scale-up market, backing some of the most disruptive and successful startups of the last decade. As Financial Controller, you will be partnering day-to-day with some of the most impressive people in the scale-up ecosystem including: Investors, Fund Finance, Marketing and People & Talent.

The team is made up of exceptionally talented, bright and ambitious individuals combined with a strong working culture built on trust and autonomy which has been central to their success so far. The role will be based in their Central London office with hybrid working.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded PE Fund whilst having a significant contribution to the ongoing development of the finance function.

The Role:

The Financial Controller will report directly into the Finance Director and will be responsible for managing the daily finance operations of the business.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the strict internal controls and processes remain fit for purpose, driving change where required.

• Oversee the monthly Finance Board pack, including management accounts, commentary and analysis.

• Oversee cash management, including cash flow forecasts and foreign exchange (FX) requirements and drive the improvement of the control environment and treasury management processes.

• Develop and maintain the company budget, track actuals versus budget, and provide supporting analysis for quarterly and annual accounts.

• Assist the Finance Director in preparing accurate financial forecasts and developing robust financial models to support strategic decision-making

• Prepare LLP profit allocations and ensure accurate reporting.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including fund administrators, legal, compliance advisors, fund finance and people teams.

• Support administration and reporting processes for carried interest and co-investment entities.

• Serve as liaison with the auditors for the annual audit process for various audited entities within the group, ensuring all deadlines are met.

• Oversee financial records and statements for group entities, including carried interest and co-investment vehicles.

• Oversee and manage the group's VAT returns, with the support of external administrators.

• Prepare quarterly FCA returns and other compliance reports.

• Run monthly payroll processes in the UK, Germany, and France, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Support the Finance Director on finance transformations and adhoc strategic projects.

Requirements:

Professional accountancy qualification (preferably ACA or equivalent)

• Trained in Top 10 Accountancy firm

Significant post-qualification experience, ideally in Private Equity, Venture Capital or a high growth Technology startup / scale-up

• Strong academic background
