Harmonic are partnering with a VC-backed buy-and-build technology platform, built by entrepreneurial founders with a track record of scaling and exiting global businesses. They are making one to two acquisitions a month, with each one folded onto a single proprietary technology platform that lifts performance almost as soon as the deal closes.

Having raised over £10m raised this year, and with further fundraising already on the horizon, and a target of £XX million ARR by early 2027, this is a unique opportunity to help architect the finance foundations of a next-generation technology platform.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a high-impact role suited to someone with a solid technical foundation and a real interest in accounting, FP&A, acquisition integration and process improvement, offering a genuinely steep learning curve for an ambitious finance professional ready to step into a technology start-up.

As Finance Manager, you'll own the operational core of group finance: month-end close, accounts payable, payroll oversight, and cash and treasury, with a bookkeeper handling the transactional work beneath you. You will onboard each newly acquired entity into the close and consolidate the group on a rolling basis, taking ownership of the budget early, with forecasting and deeper analysis growing into the role over time.

The mandate is to build finance infrastructure that keeps pace with growth. Using AI and automation to strip out manual work is central to the role, not a side project. The role sits close fundraising and due diligence, acquisition work from valuation through to completion accounts, and international expansion as the group moves beyond the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Own month-end close and produce management accounts and reporting packs, including entity-level actuals and variance flags
• Manage day-to-day cash visibility and short-term forecasting, supporting banking and treasury matters as the group grows
• Onboard newly acquired entities into month-end close, including chart of accounts mapping and system access
• Consolidate the group on a rolling basis, resolving intercompany complexity as the entity list growsOwn the annual budgeting cycle, consolidating individual entity forecasts into a single group view
• Identify and implement AI and automation across finance processes, and set the standard for how the function operates
• Alongside the bookkeeper, own accounts payable end to end, including payment runs and supplier account management
• Oversee payroll accuracy and compliance, working alongside external providers
• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA), or part-qualified with a compelling background
• Start-up or scale-up experience; you are comfortable with ambiguity, pace and a structure that changes underneath you
• Broad operational finance experience spanning accounts payable, payroll and cash, not management accounts alone
• Group consolidation across multiple entities, with real examples of the intercompany work involved
• Currently using AI or automation to improve finance processes, with specific examples of what you built and what it saved
• Multi-entity or international group experience
• Exposure to a fundraising process or acquisition due diligence
• Xero and the wider automation stack around it
