Harmonic are delighted to be working with a highly regarded production management business. With a strong portfolio of productions spanning the West End, UK touring, and international touring, this is a rare opportunity to join a close-knit team at the heart of how major theatre productions are financed and run.
The business is looking for a Finance Manager to take ownership of both their client-facing production accounting function and their own internal finance operations.
The Role
This is a broad, hands-on finance leadership role sitting across two distinct areas: delivering production accounting services to producers and general managers and managing the day-to-day finance function of the business itself. You’ll manage a small team, own key reporting and compliance processes, and act as the main point of contact for external auditors and the company's IT support provider. The role suits someone who is comfortable with variety, thrives in a small team environment, and has a genuine interest in the theatre industry.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation of weekly production accounts and monthly management accounts, working closely with general managers and producers to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
- Manage royalty holder returns, investor returns, and profit distributions.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting processes including payroll and accounts payable, ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Work with third-party auditors and accountants to meet statutory filing and tax return deadlines.
- Maintain the accounting records of the business, including invoicing, accounts payable, recharges to productions, banking, and treasury management.
- Administer payroll for the company.
- Take responsibility for the financial control environment, identifying and implementing improvements.
- Manage the company's finance IT infrastructure, acting as the key liaison with the external IT support provider and overseeing systems upgrades.
- Ad hoc tasks to support the Directors and wider business.
What We Need to See (Essential)
- Strong accounting and finance background with genuine interest in the theatre or live entertainment sector.
- Confidence managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team where flexibility matters.
- Strong communication skills with finance and non-finance, creative stakeholders.
Package:
Hybrid working: 4 days in-office, 1 day work from home (typically Fridays, with ad hoc flexibility).
