Harmonic are delighted to be working with a well-established, internationally operating music business with a strong brand and a loyal global audience. The organisation is looking for a Finance Director, FP&A & Corporate Development to join their finance team in a newly created role.
The Role
This is a hands-on, commercial finance leadership role with genuine breadth. The core of the role is FP&A and business partnering: you will own the group's annual budget process end to end, lead quarterly reforecasting across all business units, and build the analysis needed to integrate new assumptions, new business units and changing scenarios directly into the group's core financial model. You will need to be comfortable operating in ambiguity, translating business conversations into robust modelling and assumptions rather than simply running a report from a system. Alongside this, there is meaningful exposure to corporate development and strategic finance: you will work closely with the wider team on strategic initiatives and, where relevant, contribute to transaction processes, though this sits alongside rather than at the centre of the role. Broadly, this is around 70% commercial finance and FP&A, and 30% corporate development exposure. You will manage a team of two, providing hands-on support and development, and will be a confident, credible business partner across the organisation. This is not a standoffish, purely strategic seat: the successful candidate will be willing to get into the detail alongside the team.
Responsibilities
- Own and run the group's annual budget process end to end, from input gathering through to final board sign-off
- Lead quarterly reforecasting across all business units, integrating revenue, margin, cost and cash flow
- Build, maintain and continuously develop the group's core financial model, integrating new business units, assumptions and scenarios as the business evolves
- Translate business conversations and assumptions into robust modelling and analysis, working independently and comfortably with ambiguity
- Prepare and present board-level reporting packs and decks
- Business partner confidently across the organisation, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders
- Support corporate development activity and strategic initiatives as they arise, including contributing to transaction processes where relevant
- Manage and develop a team of two direct reports, including hands-on support where needed
- Month-end close analysis and variance commentary
- Ad hoc tasks to support the wider finance team and Board
What We Need to See (Essential)
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Excellent Excel modelling skills, with experience building and maintaining complex models from scratch
- Experience preparing board decks and translating business assumptions and conversations into models and numbers independently
- Proven experience owning a budget cycle and/or reforecasting process in a complex or fast-changing environment
- People management experience, ideally leading a small team
- A genuine passion for and interest in working in the music industry
What We’d Like to See (Bonus)
- Prior experience in the entertainment or creative industries
