Harmonic is partnering with a highāgrowth, ventureābacked infrastructure and energy scaleāup that has scaled from zero to a Ā£60m+ valuation in under five years. Backed by highly experienced founders and senior operators (including former investment banking and exitedāfounder backgrounds), the business works with blueāchip institutional and corporate clients, delivering largeāscale, tangible projects across the UK. With a lean team of around 20 people and ambitious growth plans, the company is entering a critical phase focused on fundraising, scaling operations, and positioning for a future sale. Finance sits at the heart of that journey.
This is a handsāon Financial Controller role, reporting directly into the Founder/CFO and CEO, working closely with an experienced Finance Director. This hire is effectively stepping in as the FD's right hand, taking ownership of core accounting, financial modelling, projections, reporting, and investor relations support. You will be deeply involved in fundraising discussions, boardālevel analysis, and supporting strategic decisionāmaking across the business. This is a role for someone who is extremely numerate, commercially sharp, and comfortable operating at pace, in a flat, highātrust environment where everyone is handsāon.
Key Responsibilities
- Production of accurate monthly management accounts, reporting packs and leading the monthāend close.
- Act as the Financial Director's core support across all financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Build and maintain robust financial models and projections to support growth, financing, and strategic decisions.
- Prepare boardālevel reporting and analysis, ensuring numbers are accurate, reconciled, and decisionāready.
- Support fundraising activity, including preparation for investor meetings and financial materials.
- Work closely with the procurement and delivery teams, ensuring costs, commitments, and forecasts are fully aligned.
- Improve and streamline financial processes, controls, and reporting as complexity increases.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior leadership in a fastāmoving, founderāled environment.
What We're Looking For (Essential)
- ACA qualified, trained at a Top 10 accountancy firm.
- Strong numerical academic background (e.g. Physics, Maths, Engineering, Economics, Finance degree).
- 2ā5 years' postāqualification experience in industry.
- Experience in a tangible, assetābased environment (e.g. infrastructure, construction, energy, manufacturing, procurementāled businesses).
- Extremely strong Excel skills.
- Comfortable operating in a lean team, with pace, ambiguity, and ownership.
- Confident engaging with founders, investors, and senior stakeholders.
Salary: Up to £100,000 + equity (everyone receives equity over time)
Location: London, 4ā5 days per week in the office
Start Date: Up to 1 month notice.
