Company Overview
Harmonic has been retained by one of the UK's most exciting software scale-ups to recruit their first-ever Financial Controller. Founded four years ago, the business has scaled rapidly to £15m+ ARR, grown headcount to over 100 people, and is backed by a globally recognised venture capital investor. The company has invested heavily in high-quality leadership, including the recent appointment of an experienced VP Finance, who will act as manager and mentor to this role as the finance function continues to scale. You'll be joining a values‐led organisation with a collaborative, people‐first culture. This hire represents a key step in building a finance environment that is ready for international expansion, multi‐entity complexity, future Series C investment and increased external audit scrutiny. It is a standout opportunity for a hands‐on SaaS Financial Controller, or a high‐potential Finance Manager ready to step up into their first FC role.
Role
You’ll take full ownership of accounting, reporting and financial control, while driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and governance as the business scales internationally. With exposure to an upcoming fundraise, increasing multi‐entity complexity including US operations, and the company’s first external audit, this role offers exceptional breadth, visibility and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Owning day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, reconciliations and general ledger management
- Leading month-end close and delivering timely, accurate management accounts and statutory reporting
- Playing a central role in the business’s first external audit, acting as a key point of contact for auditors
- Improving finance systems, processes and controls to ensure they are scalable, automated and Series C+ ready
- Supporting the build-out of a multi‐entity, international finance structure as overseas revenues grow
- Ensuring tax policies, compliance and regulatory obligations are robust as the business scales, with advisor support in place
- Championing innovation across finance, including the use of automation and AI‐driven tools
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience within a £10m+ ARR SaaS scale‐up
- Proven ownership, or clear readiness to own, end-to-end finance in a similar‐sized business
- Previous management experience and a desire to build and lead a high‐performing team
- Exposure to owning finance operations for a US entity (would be highly advantageous)
If you’re excited by the opportunity to help build a finance function from the ground up in one of the UK’s most exciting SaaS scale‐ups, we would love to hear from you.
At Harmonic, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and ensure every candidate is considered fairly, regardless of race, religion, gender expression, disability or sexual orientation.
