12 months fixed term post, potentially with opportunity to extend. Barts Heart and Thorax Centre (BHTC) are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic Cardiac MRI / CT trained Radiographer with managerial experience to lead a high‐skilled team. Utilising state‐of‐the‐art equipment – 3 Cardiac MRI scanners and a new Siemens Naeotom Alpha photon‐counting Cardiac CT scanner – the department drives research and innovative opportunities. You will work with the Operational Lead Radiographer for Cardiac Cath Labs and deputise for the Head of Radiography, forming part of the BHTC senior team, liaising with multidisciplinary colleagues and reporting on service demands and delivery.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage day‐to‐day provision of Cardiac MRI and CT services, ensuring efficient and effective delivery.
  • Provide high‐profile Clinical Specialist support to the suites and the department.
  • Coordinate staffing and resource issues with Superintendent Radiographers; manage dedicated and rotational staff.
  • Act as Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS), completing required training.
  • Interact with senior hospital staff, advising on service demands, delivery and technical issues.

Person Specification

Experience (Essential)

  • Extensive experience in cardiac MRI imaging.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, national standards and professional guidelines.
  • Evidence of leadership experience.
  • Recent senior level supervision and management in dedicated cardiac imaging service.
  • Experience implementing change and leading service development initiatives.
  • Development and implementation of Radiographic protocols and procedures.
  • Governance compliance and risk management experience.
  • Experience developing and delivering training to radiographers and students.
  • Proven mentor experience with positive outcomes.
  • Appraisal experience with Radiographic staff.

Experience (Desirable)

  • Experience in cardiac CT imaging.
  • Operational management experience.
  • Experience in PFI setting and managing equipment services.
  • Experience purchasing and commissioning new equipment.
  • Experience in budget responsibility.
  • Experience in research work.

Qualifications (Essential)

  • DCR, BSc Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  • HPC State Registration.
  • Evidence of appropriate post‐registration study and Continuing Professional Development.

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Post‐registration qualification (professional or managerial) at MSc/PG dip level, or equivalent.
